Alain Fournier

Research Associate MSc in Mathematics, Laval University, Canada

Background: Alain obtained his M.Sc. degree in Mathematics from Laval University in 1989. He then performed research work in computational fluid dynamics to compute airflows in aircraft engines during Ph.D. studies at Laval University, while teaching calculus, linear algebra and numerical analysis. Prior to joining our research group in 2015, Alain has accumulated a strong experience in mathematical modelling in Health Sciences. He developed a mathematical model for the transmission of HIV/AIDS (1995-98) and worked on the computation of the genetics of major psychoses and on the automatization of genotype error detection (1998-2015).

Current projects: Alain joined our research group in 2015, coming back to sexually transmitted infections modelling, mainly HPV transmission and associated diseases. He currently works on extending our model HPV-ADVISE to add new risk factors.
