Background: Philippe Lemieux-Mellouki is a PhD candidate in epidemiology at Laval University. He graduated with a Master’s degree in mathematics from Laval University in 2012. His Master’s thesis explored the abstract field of algebraic topology, which admittedly has little to do with epidemiology. However, it’s now his interest to use this overall experience of problem solving and conceptualization gained through maths studies to work toward a better understanding of today’s infectious diseases using a modeling approach.
Current projects: Philippe is currently working on modelling oral HPV infection and its related diseases. He plans to investigate some of the many questions still open on the natural history of oral infection as well as the possible modes of transmission, thus helping in the prevention of HPV cancers.
